It is a beautiful bike and attract kids. My daughter just love it. She always asks for a ride on her bicycle. It might be a little big heavy to carry it. But it doesn't take much energy to ride on it.

My daughter is 3 yrs 4 months and she just loves this bike. She is petite for her age and will get lots of use out of it. I searched hard to find a good, unisex design that my 10 month old son can grow into later on, and this is perfect. It is very sturdy, easy to assemble, and seems better quality than most training bikes where the training wheels don't both touch the ground. THe hand break is a nice addition.

My daughter rode the Kettler balance bike (that's

the small one with no pedals) from age 3 to 4. Then

at age 4 she was ready for this bike, "ready" in the

respect that she could sit on the bike with the saddle

at its lowest setting, with both her feet planted on

the floor. We didn't need to bother at all with the

training wheels, we just took her to a gently sloping

path in the local park and off she went. But the bike

is very heavy and whenever we ride to the park (about

1 mile each way) she will choose her balance bike over

the Bingo bike every time - she can go much faster on it,

and lift it up curbs and turn it around 180 degrees

underneath her, all without having to get off - none of

this is possible with the heavier Bingo. So in summary,

the Bingo bike did it's job in that it taught her how to

ride a bike, but that's it. The build quality is solid.

One minor gripe: the saddle angle is not adjustable, and

my daughter found herself slipping forwards on it, and

we ended up buying an adjustable-tilt saddle directly

from Kettler.

Our son is a little more than two years old, so we thought this bike might be too advanced for him. But he's trying to keep up with his older sister, and we thought he might be able to skip the tricycle. I agree that three is a good recommended age for this bike, but it depends on the child. Our son still needs some help getting onto it and he occasionally gets stuck on a bump, but riding this bike is the only thing he wants to do. He steers and pedals on his own, and he just won't stop riding it. Other reviewers have mentioned how sturdy the bike is, and that's certainly true. One reviewer complained about the weight. The Kettler is heavier than other bikes, and that might be an issue when it's time to take off the training wheels, but for us this bike has been a huge success. One last benefit (for us at least) is that it's not plastered with Spiderman or SpongeBob designs. Maybe we're old fashioned, but this is just a bike - not a rolling advertisement for a movie or a cartoon.

We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old. She never had a tricycle before this 2-wheel with training wheels. She was SO excited when she received it, even though she was not quite coordinated enough to ride it initially. It is a high quality, heavy bike - but its design allows her to get on it without help and we don't worry about her hurting herself on a 'top tube' (the highest bar on the main bike frame) or get clothes stuck in the chain (great chain guard on all sides). Less than six weeks later, she is able to pedal it by herself. Sometimes she gets stuck and asks for help, but we encourage her to stand on the tallest pedal and she is able to get 'un-stuck' by herself. (Read: it's not too heavy a bike). I LOVE the brightly colored paint scheme (that it is not gender-stereotyped princessy or the like).

I bought this bike because my 2 1/2 year old son had outgrown his tricycle and wanted a "big kid bike". This is a very high-quality bike, super sturdy and looks really cool. However, it is so HEAVY that my son has difficulty pedaling it, and he is definitely not small for his age (over 38" tall and 35 pounds). He can do okay on a flat surface or downhill, but any kind of an incline and I have to push him, which kills my back. I feel bad for marking a product down for being too solidly built, but this thing is just too heavy for a little kids bike. I think that next summer he should be able to pedal it no problem, and this thing is definitely well built enough to last for years and years of use, but it didn't get much use this summer.

I ordered this bike for my son who is turning 4. I paid $119 and no shipping charge with Prime. It arrived in one business day instead of two (bonus!). Packaging and condition were good.







MY BIG OPINIONS FOLLOW.



WHAT I LIKED:



Quality construction: The frame is rigid, the welds are nice, and it's not quite as heavy (~25lbs) compared to some others I considered. The wheels, tires, seat, pedals and handlebars are BETTER than what you would hope to get at this price point. As I handled the bike it just felt and looked solid and expensive both in (MOST) details and the whole. It rides like an expensive bike.



Hardware: How about the little things? Nobody thinks about hardware until you get the thing home and Dad's cursing stripped bolts and flimsy plastic connectors that came with the Wal-mart bargain bike. What a joy to work with the grade A all metal parts that came with this bike. I felt more like a master mechanic than a toy assembler. EVERY fastener fit the first time. They could cut corners here but don't. Fun.



WHAT I LIKED LESS:



Fork/wheel fit: Only because I was able to remedy this issue without having to get Kettler involved do I not lead off this review with a huge gripe. The bottom (between the two tubes) of the front fork was a full 3/8 inch too narrow to receive the front tire. 3/8s?! All fun stopped here. Now, the circular tube fork was completely symmetrical when viewed from the top and my inspection revealed no kind of obvious flaw or defect in the bending or welding, EXCEPT for the subtle convergence of the two sides along their length.



Fork/wheel fit (cont.): Sheer arm strength alone yielded a mere 1/8 inch spreading leaving 1/4 inch to go. I did note the rigidity of the fork; it was so solid. I was both pleased and dumbfounded at the same time. And "Yes" it was the correct fork and it came already installed on the bike complete with spider stickers! Straight to the end: I spread the fork with wood, shims and a hammer until the wheel pegs/bolts slid in under tension. This part required me to grow two extra arms and hands so grab a buddy to help you and read this again if found in this predicament. The ultimate fit was exact and tight. Problem solved. Okay, it's true; I loved this bike so much by the time I found this problem that I was determined to work it out and only call Kettler as a last resort. (Which I did not do)



Material confusion: Kettler was a pioneer in the use of aluminum in bicycle construction and so I was a little disappointed to discover that the frame is steel (magnets don't lie). I confess I made an assumption based on a lack of information beforehand and now you can know for sure. That said, is this a really a big deal? No. Not for the discounted price and nice design and workmanship and the fact that all the other 16" bikes I considered at this price (and under) are steel, too. I guess this point is not really a detractor but it's worth mentioning.



Spiders gone wild: This issue made me chuckle and is easily remedied. Look at the stock photo of this bike. It has at least 15 spider and Pulse decals, spiders on the seat (which I did like), and spider handlebar pads. To me, it's visual overkill and borders on tacky. Blame the German designers? Preferences vary, I know. Use Goo Gone and an old credit card as your taste dictates. (I removed a few of the worst and kept the big, black, totally awesome spiders.) The two pads that attach to the handlebars are thin and very cheap in quality; they hit the trash and are strangely inconsistent with the style and quality of the rest of the bicycle.



No kick stand: It seems standard among kid bikes not to have a kick stand when training wheels are included. For me, I'd take the stand as a separate installable piece (at least) since I don't need the wheels.





BOTTOM LINE: I recommend this bike. It is High Quality for a Good Price. You'll know you got a good deal when you build and see him ride it. My boy loves it and so do I. Five stars for this overall great bike. Buy with confidence.

We purchased this bike for our 4 year old son after a lot of research. Our son loves it and was able to ride it instantly. It is not too heavy, perfect size and really well built. It is such a hit - he rides it every day when his dad gets home from work. Definitely worth the money!
